Mangalore: ISKCON to celebrate Sri Krishna Janmastami

Mangalore August 30, 2007: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) unit located at Arya Samaj Road, Mangalore will be organizing "Sri Krishna Janmastami" festival on September 4, 2007 at Dr T M A Pai International Convention Centre, informed Shree Karunya Sagara Dasa.

Addressing newspersons on Wednesday he said that highlights of the programme will be a grand Abhisheka, Hare Krishna Japa Yajna, and Alankara Pooja for Lord Krishna. Maha Abhisheka will be held at 9pm which will be followed by Maha Mangalarathi at 12 midnight.

District In-charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty will inaugurate the festival and Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao will be chief guest on this occasion. General public can offer their prayers, pujas and perform special ashtottara seva to the Lord throughout the day. Darshan timings will be from 9 am to 12 midnight starting with Darshan Arathi and ending with Maha Mangalarathi. Every individual will get a unique chance to chant Hare Krishna Mantra 108 times in a special Hare Krishna Japa Mantapa on this auspicious occasion, he added.

He also informed that discourse on the appearance of Lord Krishna, Cultural programmes like devotional songs composed by Purandara Dasa, Kanaka Dasa etc will be sung by artists and devotees throughout the day. There will be also a Yakshagana performance on Lord Krishna's Baly Leela by Ravi Alevooraya and team at 6 pm.
